Marvel Entertainment has just unveiled the first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, along with its release date: February 14, 2025. This film, following the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will feature Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America. The movie also stars Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler, and Giancarlo Esposito, with Julius Onah directing and Kevin Feige and Nate Moore producing.
A New Era for Captain America
The trailer, released on July 12, marks Anthony Mackie’s first big-screen appearance as Captain America since taking up the mantle at the end of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The storyline reveals President Thaddeus Ross (played by Harrison Ford) attempting to reintegrate Captain America into the U.S. military. However, Sam Wilson harbors reservations about this new role.
The film seems to channel the tone of The Winter Soldier, offering a grounded, conspiracy-focused narrative. The trailer hints at assassination attempts, double agents, government betrayal, and shadowy figures manipulating global events. One of the most striking visuals is Sam’s new suit, which fuses elements from both his Falcon and Captain America personas.
Red Hulk Teased
While Giancarlo Esposito’s character appears to be the villain, the trailer hints at an even greater threat. The closing shots reveal the Red Hulk catching Cap’s shield and slamming it into the ground. In the comics, Red Hulk has been three different characters, but for those familiar with the lore, it’s clear who this will be in Brave New World.
If the movie follows the comic storyline, Red Hulk would be Thaddeus Ross. In the comics, Ross was a general, but in the trailer, Ford’s character is depicted as the current president.
Captain America: Brave New World is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025, positioning itself as the 35th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fourth standalone Captain America movie.
