The Flash is a 2023 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It is a standalone film, separate from the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / Flash, alongside Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, Maribel Verdú, and Ron Livingston. In the film, Barry travels back in time to prevent his mother’s murder, but inadvertently creates a new timeline in which he is no longer the only speedster.
The Flash has great moments, and is filled with trips down memory lane, which will surely make every DC fan have goosebumps.Of course the movie has some flaws, but nothing to deem it a failure, nor give it a low score. The film’s biggest strength is its cast. Miller is excellent as Barry Allen, and he is supported by a strong cast of actors, including Affleck, Keaton, and Calle. Overall, the film’s visual effects are also impressive, and the action sequences are well-choreographed.
On the downside, we felt that the film’s first half was a bit slow and, and it takes a while for the action to get going. The film’s second half gets much better. The plot can, at some points get confusing as well due to a somewhat loaded script. Again, this did not overshadow the overall outcome, and we loved it!
Overall, is an enjoyable film that fans of DC will enjoy, specially that it’s filled with flashback surprises and cameos (which might get you a trip to the E.R 😉). Anyway, we’ve said enough here, we will be keeping the rest as a secret for now to avoid any spoilers.
