If you hear your fridge whispering sweet nothings about ice cream, or your washing machine belting out opera, there’s a good chance you’ve encountered the vocal chameleon himself, Elie Iskandar. This Lebanese-born Dubai resident can do over 200 voices, turning everyday objects into a talking menagerie and leaving everyone around him wondering if they’ve gone bonkers.
From Eight-Year-Old Spy to YouTube Sensation
It all started at the tender age of eight, when a trip to deliver food to a neighbor with a voice like gravel rolling down a mountain sparked Elie’s vocal journey. Hours spent watching cartoons on mute, perfecting each character’s quirks, proved he wasn’t just a good mimic, but a voice-stealing ninja in training.
Fast forward to his teenage years, and Elie stumbled upon a legendary sounding voice on MixFM. And like a chubby 16 year old inspector Clouseau, he sought out the man behind the voice, which turned out to be legendary voice actor (Dave Foxx of Z100 New York) and sent him an impression of him, to which Dave replied with “Kid, you’ve got the pipes” which gave Elie the push he needed to start doing voice overs. That’s when Elie realized his talent wasn’t just for shower karaoke and impressing pigeons.
From Freebie Freak to Morgan Freeman’s Arabic Twin
He started small, doing freebie gigs to hone his skills, like being the voice of a particularly eloquent toaster. But his YouTube channel, filled with hilarious impressions and mind-bending voice mashups, caught the eye of a talent scout with ears sharper than a desert fox. Soon, Elie was landing gigs for big brands, his voice weaving between Talabat and Etisalat commercials like a smooth-talking salesman in a sound booth.
He can do Batman’s growl, Mickey Mouse’s squeak, and even nail the dulcet tones of Morgan Freeman…in Arabic! He is the Arabic voice of Morgan Freeman in his documentary serie. Elie Iskandar’s vocal range is wider than the Dubai Creek, and his talent has taken him from childhood TV marathons to voicing your favorite commercials. So next time you hear a suspiciously familiar voice on the radio, remember, it might just be Elie, channeling his inner Freeman and reminding you to pay your phone bill.
The Man, the Myth, the Voice of Everything
Today, Elie’s the go-to guy for anything that needs a vocal makeover. Want your car to purr like a lion during rush hour? He’s got you covered. Need your blender to narrate your smoothie-making process in Shakespearean verse? Consider it done.
