Apple TV+ is set to release a gripping new documentary series, “Cowboy Cartel,” on August 2nd. The four-part series delves into the astonishing true story of how a rookie FBI agent managed to take down the notorious Los Zetas cartel,exposing their multimillion-dollar money laundering scheme intertwined with the American Quarter Horse racing scene.
This isn’t your average crime documentary. “Cowboy Cartel” follows the unlikely hero, Scott Lawson, a fresh-faced FBI agent from rural Tennessee, as he embarks on a high-stakes investigation that leads him to the heart of one of Mexico’s most dangerous criminal organizations.
Lawson’s intuition and relentless pursuit of justice drive him to uncover the cartel’s international money laundering operation, putting his own life on the line. The documentary features exclusive interviews with Lawson himself, along with key figures involved in the case, including IRS agents, police officers, prosecutors, and a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist.
The series is a production of Breaklight Pictures for Apple TV+, and joins the ranks of other acclaimed nonfiction programming on the platform, such as “The Dynasty: New England Patriots” and “Hollywood Con Queen.”
