Just like rumours suggested, HTC has launched a camera. The RE looks like a periscope and positioning itself as a GoPro competitor “for the rest of us”.
The RE is a 16 megapixel waterproof camera with a 146-degree wide-angle lens and controlled by an app available on Android and iPhone. The app also grants access to videos and photos captured with the RE.
The device is lightweight, weighing in at 65.5 grams only and supports external memory up to 128GB.
The RE has 2 buttons, a quick click launches the camera while a long press starts and stops video. There’s also another button on the front that captures slow motion videos.
The RE is a standalone device and can connect via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to any smartphone on either Android or iOS.
The RE will be available in white, teal, orange and navy blue, and will cost $199.
HTC’s RE is up for pre order now here.
