The latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.24.14.5) is streamlining the video messaging experience with a new shortcut for quick replies. Discovered by WABetaInfo, the shortcut appears as a small camera icon with a reply arrow next to video messages.
Previously, replying to a video required users to manually find the video and navigate through a menu. This new shortcut simplifies the process, allowing for faster and more intuitive responses.
While the feature is currently being rolled out to select beta testers, it is expected to become available to all users in the future. The exact timeline for the stable release remains unclear.
This marks the second recent improvement for video messaging in WhatsApp, following a beta test earlier in June that introduced a default HD quality option for photo and video uploads. This move aligns with the platform’s previous addition of HD photo uploads last August.
In addition to these video-focused updates, WhatsApp recently enhanced its video and voice calling experience, adding features like “Speaker Spotlight” and audio support for screen sharing, ensuring better call quality even on older devices.
