WeTransfer, the popular file-sharing platform, has announced changes to its free plan, limiting users to 10 transfers per month. This move comes alongside adjustments to its pricing structure and features for both free and paid plans.
Despite the reduction in the number of monthly transfers, WeTransfer’s free plan now includes several new perks:
- Increased File Size Limit: The maximum file size for transfers has been increased from 2GB to 3GB.
- Unlimited Portals: Users can create unlimited collaborative folders for working with clients.
- Password Protection: All transfers can now be password-protected for enhanced security.
- Unlimited Reviews: Users can gather feedback on their work through unlimited reviews.
WeTransfer has also discontinued its paid transfer program, which allowed users to sell files on the platform.
New Pricing Structure:
The company has revamped its pricing tiers, introducing a new WeTransfer Starter plan for $6.99 per month. This plan offers the same benefits as the free plan but with a significantly increased file size limit of 300GB.
The previous Pro and Premium plans have been replaced by a single Ultimate plan priced at $25 per month. This plan combines all the features and benefits of the previous tiers.
These changes follow WeTransfer’s acquisition by Bending Spoons in July. Similar to Bending Spoons’ approach with its acquisition of Evernote, WeTransfer has undergone staff reductions and adjustments to its free plan offerings.
In August, WeTransfer also modified its file expiry policies based on subscription tiers. These recent changes reflect a broader strategy to optimize the platform’s offerings and pricing structure.
