Snapchat is rolling out new location-sharing features to its Family Center, a hub for parental tools and resources. These features aim to enhance safety and connectivity for families using the platform.
Parents can now request to share their teen’s live location through Family Center. This allows families to stay informed about each other’s whereabouts and provides peace of mind for parents.
Enhanced settings visibility will enable parents to see which friends their teen shares their location with on Snap Map, facilitating open conversations about location-sharing choices within families. Travel notifications will allow families to designate specific locations on the Snap Map, such as home or school, and receive notifications when their teen arrives at or departs from those locations.
Snapchat emphasizes that location sharing is off by default and can only be enabled with accepted friends. The platform is also adding reminders for users to review their location-sharing settings when adding new friends outside their real-world network.
These new features demonstrate Snapchat’s ongoing commitment to online safety and providing families with tools to navigate the digital world responsibly and stay connected.
