Nothing, the tech company known for its unique and community-driven approach, has just unveiled the Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition. This limited-edition smartphone is a testament to the power of collaboration, with its design and features shaped by ideas and contributions from Nothing’s passionate community.
The most striking feature of the Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition is its glow-in-the-dark back panel. This innovative design, dubbed “Phosphorescence,” was conceived by community members Astrid Vanhuyse and Kenta Akasaki. The back panel utilizes phosphorescent materials that store light from external sources and emit a subtle glow in the dark.
Complementing the unique hardware are six exclusive wallpapers, the “Connected Collection,” created by community member Andrés Mateos. These wallpapers were developed using AI and digital design techniques in collaboration with Nothing’s software team, adding an artistic touch to the phone’s visual experience.
Even the packaging for the Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition reflects the community’s influence. Designed by Ian Henry Simmonds, the packaging follows a minimalist “Less is More” approach, featuring bold graphics and reflective elements that align with the phone’s glow-in-the-dark aesthetic.
The marketing campaign for the Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition, titled “Find your light. Capture your light,” was spearheaded by community member Sonya Palma. This collaborative effort between Nothing and its community has resulted in a truly unique smartphone that embodies the company’s commitment to innovation and user engagement.
The Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition is a limited release of just 1,000 units, available in all markets where the standard Phone (2a) Plus is sold. It will be available for purchase starting November 12th on Nothing’s official website and through select retailers.
