Microsoft Teams users on iPad can now enhance their video conferencing experience with external camera support. This new feature allows users to connect higher-quality webcams to their iPads, improving video resolution, dynamic range, and offering greater flexibility in camera positioning.
This update takes advantage of the external camera support introduced in iPadOS 17 for iPads with a USB-C port. Connecting an external camera to Teams is a seamless plug-and-play process. Users simply need to plug their camera into the iPad’s USB-C port, and Teams will automatically switch to the external camera for video calls. Disconnecting the external camera will revert back to the iPad’s built-in camera.
While most USB-C webcams are supported, there are currently no manual controls within Teams to switch between the internal and external cameras. The app will always default to the external camera when one is connected.
This enhancement is particularly beneficial for users with older iPads that may have lower-quality built-in cameras. It provides a simple and effective way to improve video quality and enhance the overall Teams experience on iPad.
