Leaked images of what appears to be a Google Pixel 9a prototype have surfaced online, offering a glimpse at the phone’s design and confirming previous rumors about a departure from the Pixel 9 series’ camera bar.
The images, shared on Twitter, showcase a device with unique patterns and a modified logo, typical of prototype camouflage. The back of the phone features a pill-shaped camera housing, a significant departure from the camera visor bar seen on recent Pixel flagship models.
Other design elements visible in the leaked images include flat edges with rounded corners and a center-mounted punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera.
An IMEI number included in one of the images suggests that the device is indeed a Google prototype with the model number GTF7P.
These leaked images corroborate earlier reports and renders that indicated a design change for the Pixel 9a. Previous leaks also suggest that the Pixel 9a will feature a 6.3-inch Actua display, a Tensor G4 chip, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage. The camera system is expected to include a 48MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens.
The Pixel 9a is rumored to launch in March 2025, potentially offering a more affordable alternative to the Pixel 9 series with a refreshed design and updated specifications.
