Apple has announced that the second beta version of iOS 18 will be released next Monday, just two weeks after its unveiling at WWDC 2024. Notably, this update will introduce two highly anticipated features: iPhone Mirroring and enhanced SharePlay screen sharing.
While Apple had previously announced a range of features for iOS 18, several of them, including Apple Intelligence, were not included in the initial beta release. Some of these features are expected to roll out later this year, even after the public release of iOS 18. However, Apple has confirmed that iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay screen sharing will be part of the second beta, exciting news for users eager to test these new functionalities.
iPhone Mirroring will enable Mac users to seamlessly interact with their iPhone’s display directly on their Mac, including receiving notifications and effortlessly dragging and dropping content between devices. The enhanced SharePlay screen sharing feature will allow users to collaborate more effectively by drawing on each other’s screens or even taking control of another user’s screen remotely.
In addition to these new features, iOS 18 beta 2 is expected to address various bugs, refine existing features, and potentially introduce other improvements. It is likely to be released alongside the second betas for iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, tvOS 18, visionOS 2, and watchOS 11, providing developers with a comprehensive update across Apple’s platforms. A public beta version of iOS 18 is scheduled for release in July, and Apple has indicated that select Apple Intelligence features will also enter beta testing this summer.
