Huawei has expanded its Mate XT | Ultimate Design lineup in the UAE by introducing a new 512GB storage variant, offering a more accessible option for consumers interested in the company’s tri-fold smartphone. Initially launched in February with only a 1TB version, the Mate XT’s expanded offering aims to attract a broader segment of users without significantly compromising on its flagship features.
Available through Huawei’s online platforms and select retail outlets, the new 512GB Mate XT is priced at AED 10,999 and includes promotional gifts valued at AED 2,898. Despite the lower price point compared to the original release, the device retains the core features that distinguish it within the growing foldable phone market.
Mate XT review
The Mate XT sports a 10.2-inch display that folds down to the dimensions of a standard smartphone. Even with its complex tri-fold design, it maintains a relatively slim profile when folded and, when fully opened, claims the title of the world’s thinnest foldable at just 3.6mm thick. Huawei attributes this engineering achievement to a combination of lightweight materials, including an ultra-thin leather back, and a meticulously designed hinge system built from high-strength steel. This hinge is designed for durability, offering smooth transitions between its various folded states even with frequent use.
In terms of display quality, the Mate XT incorporates Huawei’s 3K X-True Display technology, allowing for smooth transitions across single, dual, and triple-screen modes. This setup supports a flexible range of usage scenarios, positioning the device as a hybrid between smartphone, tablet, and even a basic laptop substitute for multitasking users.
Photography remains a strong focus for the Mate XT, equipped with a Huawei XMAGE camera system that spans ultra-wide to 5.5x telephoto capabilities. Its 10-step adjustable aperture offers added control for various lighting conditions, while the Ultra Speed Snapshot feature helps capture fast-moving subjects with clarity.
The introduction of the 512GB version signals Huawei’s intent to make its high-end foldable technology more accessible without abandoning its premium positioning. As foldable smartphones continue to gain momentum, offering more storage options at different price points could help the Mate XT carve out a larger share in an increasingly competitive market.
