Google is rolling out a series of updates to its Gemini AI, bringing powerful new capabilities to Pixel devices. These enhancements focus on improving search, research, and interaction with on-screen content, making Gemini an even more intelligent and versatile assistant.
Gemini Live, Google’s answer to ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode, is getting a significant upgrade. Initially launched to enable hands-free conversations with Gemini, the updated version can now analyze and answer questions about various media, including images, files, and videos on Pixel devices. Imagine watching a YouTube video and discussing it with Gemini Live – the possibilities are endless.
This update is currently available on Pixel 9 series phones, with plans to expand to Pixel 6 and later models.
Gemini Deep Research, first introduced as a web-based feature for Gemini Advanced subscribers, is making its way to Pixel devices. This powerful tool allows users to delve deeper into topics by browsing through hundreds of websites and generating a comprehensive report with key findings and links to original sources.
Pixel users with a Gemini Advanced subscription will have access to Deep Research in the coming days. As a special offer, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold users who purchased and activated their devices between August 7, 2024, and October 31, 2025, receive a 12-month subscription to Gemini Advanced, including Deep Research.
Google is also enhancing its Circle to Search feature with AI Overviews. Circle to Search allows users to quickly search the web by circling, scribbling, or tapping on content displayed on their screen. Now, with the addition of AI Overviews, users will see AI-generated summaries of search topics directly within Google Search.
For example, circling an image of a cat could pull up a description of the highlighted content, providing instant information and context. Circle to Search can also recognize phone numbers, URLs, and email addresses, enabling users to take actions like making a call or composing an email.
With these updates, Google is solidifying its commitment to bringing advanced AI capabilities to Pixel users. By enhancing Gemini with features like Live Media Analysis, Deep Research, and AI Overviews, Google is transforming the way users interact with their devices and explore the world of information around them.
