Google Meet is making virtual meetings even more flexible with a new automatic Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for Chrome on desktops. Previously requiring manual activation, PiP will now intelligently launch whenever you switch tabs during a meeting.
This seemingly minor tweak brings a significant boost to multitasking. Now, you can seamlessly reference documents, take notes, or even check your email without losing sight of your meeting. It’s a small change that delivers a big improvement in usability, particularly for those who thrive on juggling multiple tasks.
The feature is rolling out now and will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google Accounts. While enabled by default, those who prefer the old way can easily disable it in Chrome’s site settings.
This update, part of Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance Meet’s user experience, reaffirms their commitment to providing a seamless and productive virtual meeting environment. So, next time you find yourself switching tabs during a Meet call, rest assured that your meeting will stay front and center, thanks to automatic PiP.
