OpenAI’s ChatGPT has received a significant update with the new GPT-4o model, bringing exciting features like real-time conversational speech and vision-based interaction. While the text and image capabilities of GPT-4o are already available for both free and paid users on the web version, the voice and video features will be rolled out later.
The update is being gradually released across platforms. Web users can check if they have access by looking for GPT-4o in the model drop-down menu. However, the ChatGPT apps for iOS and Android haven’t received the update yet.
A new Mac app is also being rolled out to ChatGPT Plus users, with wider availability expected in the coming weeks. A Windows version is planned for later this year.
Developers can access GPT-4o’s text and vision model in the API, but the full range of features, including voice and video, will be released later after further testing and development.
