OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT Search, its web search feature, will soon be available to all users, including those on the free tier. Previously limited to paid subscribers, ChatGPT Search will become accessible to anyone with an OpenAI account in the coming months.
With ChatGPT Search, the chatbot can automatically access and process information from the web to provide more comprehensive and up-to-date responses. Users can also explicitly instruct ChatGPT to search the web using a new icon in the prompt bar. Additionally, OpenAI has introduced the option to set ChatGPT Search as the default search engine in web browsers.
This expanded availability was announced during OpenAI’s “12 Days of OpenAI” livestream event. The company has used these livestreams to unveil several new features and offerings, including the general availability of its text-to-video AI model, Sora, and a new ChatGPT Pro subscription tier.
