Passkeys are now supported for Apple IDs, if you are on the beta program of iOS 17 (including iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma). Users with an Apple ID will automatically be assigned a passkey, which can be used to sign in to their Apple ID on the web, anywhere where signing in with your Apple ID is supported, using the “Sign in with Apple” option.
In order to test this out, iPhone users running iOS 17 can visit any sign-in page on appleid.apple.com or icloud.com, and enter their Apple ID email address. Once that is done, users will get a “Sign in with iPhone” button, which will bring up a QR code that can be scanned to proceed with logging in.

Users running beta versions of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma can test it starting today. Th feature will be available for all supported devices with the releases of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma later this year.
What are passkeys ?
Passkeys are a new type of login credential that are designed to replace passwords. They are based on public-key cryptography, which means that they are much more secure than passwords. Passkeys are also more convenient to use, as you don’t need to remember them. Instead, you can sign in to websites and apps using your fingerprint, facial recognition, or a PIN.
