Instagram is reportedly developing a new feature that will allow users to generate AI-powered profile pictures directly within the app. This feature, discovered by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, aims to simplify the process of creating unique and artistic profile images without relying on external services.
Similar to features already offered by Snapchat and TikTok, Instagram’s AI profile image generation will enable users to create stylized versions of themselves. By accessing the “Edit Profile” section and selecting “Edit Picture,” users will find a new option to “Create an AI profile picture.”
While the exact functionality is still under wraps, it is expected that users will be able to transform their existing profile picture into an AI-generated image with artistic flair. It remains unclear whether users will also have the option to select an image from their gallery for AI conversion.
This development comes alongside other features Instagram is currently testing, including advanced filtering options for direct messages. This feature will allow content creators to prioritize messages from verified accounts, businesses, fellow creators, and subscribers.
With the introduction of AI-powered profile image generation, Instagram continues to evolve and provide users with new ways to express themselves creatively on the platform.
