I love games, so much so that I have a PC, a Switch & an XBOX but they all have one problem. Not enough storage. So when I got a chance to review a drive from Western Digital, I could not pass up the opportunity.
The WD D10 comes in two capacities 8tb and 12 TB, and can store a lot of content. I wanted to see how many games I could install on this, so I hooked it up to my XBOX, and to my luck, the drive came with three months of XBOX Game Pass Ultimate so I could download lots of games & it adds a lot more value to the D10.

Storage : 12 TB of goodness !
After downloading more than 250 games, I was left with 7.5 Tb of space. This could accommodate my 6tb of content on my PC and still have space leftover.

The drive requires external power. But this has an advantage to it as it also has two USB charging ports, which can recharge devices up to 7.5 Watts. Since the XBOX only has three USB ports, this can free up ports to add other accessories. I would have really loved USB hub capabilities & power over USB.
Looks can be deceptive, the case looks like its made of metal, but it’s plastic and a very high-quality plastic at that. It also comes with a stand so you can keep it horizontal. I personally liked its aggressive look.

The set up of the drive is straightforward, it will prompt you to either format the drive or use it as a media drive. If you don’t format it, then it can only be used to view media; however, if you want to install games, then you would have to format it. You can also format it later on from the settings.
The D10 has a 7200 rpm drive, which means that it has speed up to 250 Mbps, which is substantially faster than the internal 5400 rpm drive on the XBOX.
The drive is also super quiet, even more so considering that it is a 7200 rpm drive and that there is a fan inside the D10 to cool it.

The D10 is a pretty darn good drive, and with the added value of XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, it is a great present to give for the holidays too!
