If you are looking for a smartphone with a big screen, great battery life, with a low price tag, then you are reading the right review.
The new realme C53 is here, and this might be the entry level smartphone you are looking for. We took the C53 for a spin, and this is what thought about it.
On the outside
The realme C53, comes with a 6.74-inch screen, the realme C53 is only 7.49 mm thin, weighs 182g and comes in two colors, Champion Gold and Mighty Black. The C53 is very comfortable to hold due to its plastic build (expected at this price range), and has flat edges all around. At the back, there’s a frosted glass-looking finish (plastic), which unfortunately, yes, picks up fingerprints.
On the left side of the phone, you’ll find the SIM card slot, and the power button (which serves as a fingerprint reader), the volume up and down button on the right side.
On the bottom, sits an UltraBoom Speaker, a USB-C charging port, a microphone, and a 3.5 mm headphone audio jack….YES, A 3.5 mm HEADPHONE JACK!
Overall, the build quality feels sturdy.
Display
The realme C53’s display is an IPS LCD panel, that offers good contrast and colors. The display is a 6.74-inch diagonal with a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a resolution of 720 by 1600 pixels. The c53 is capable to have a maximum brightness of 560 nits. The screen has a refresh rate of 90 hertz.
The viewing angles are wide, and the screen overall performance is good with vivid colors.
On the inside
The phone is powered by an octave core Unisoc T612 processor (4G), and is packed with 6GB RAM with an additional 6GB of dynamic memory available through DRE technology, which is the biggest at this price segment. Additionally, the C53 is packed with 128GB of internal storage space, expandable up to 2TB.
Battery wise, the C53 comes with a large 5,000mAh battery supercharged with 33W SUPERVOOC Charging, that can charge from 0 to 50% in just around 30 Minutes, and 0 to 100% in just over an hour.
Performance & Software
Performance wise, using the realme C53 for a few days was surprisingly good for an entry level smartphone, nothing too powerful, but very responsive for the price range again, and definitely beats others in the same category. There is virtually no lag at all if the device is used the way it’s intended to be used, like browsing social media, watching some videos, sending emails, and occasional gaming (of course we are talking either about low demoing games, or games like Call Of Duty, but played at low settings to avoid any lags).
The smartphone runs on Android 13 with the realme UI T Edition on top. realme includes some pre-installed apps as well, but nothing that can’t removed. The interface allows a lot of customization.
Camera
On the back, the C53 is equipped with a 50 megapixel AI shooter, and an and an 8 megapixel front camera.
The 50 megapixel rear camera does a good job to be very honest here, I did not expect that at all. Photos we took were with good detail overall.
Here are some samples
Additionally, the camera has few tricks up its sleeve:
Night Mode
Night Mode brightens dark shooting environments while retaining details, for a capable and reliable shooting experience you can count on any hour of the day.
City Street Filter
City Street Filter lets you capture street shots more naturally than ever, with more emotion and feeling.
Secret Garden Filter
Secret Garden Filter makes taking photos of flowers and plant life more outstanding and dramatic.
Sunny Holiday Filter
Shoot stunning landscapes, bringing out the best of your holiday travels. High color saturation and brightness give the photos a bright and lively mood.
Verdict – Should you buy it ?
For an entry level smartphone, this is an easy YES as a recommended choice.
