Huawei has recently launched the nova 11 Pro in the UAE, and we took it for spin to see what the addition to this series is all about.
Design and display
The design of the nova 11 Pro is bold for sure. It looks sleek and modern with a back that is sure to turn heads, specially the green variant, which comes dressed in the company’s nova Monogram Vegan Leather Design. The back also houses the Star Orbit Ring with its dual Ultra vision shooter. The nova 11 Pro also comes in black.
The display on the nova 11 Pro is a 6.78-inch 120 Hz OLED curved display, with a resolution of 2652 x 1200, and a pixel density of 429 ppi. Additionally, the nova 11 Pro has narrow bezels at 1.75 mm and 1.98 mm on the upper and lower ends respectively, with around a 92% screen-to-body ratio.
Overall the display is well calibrated, and outputs vibrant colors, and great dynamic range. The nova 11 Pro is 6.88 mm thin, weighing 188g, making it super comfortable to hold and use. The nova 11 Pro’s display features HUAWEI’s trademark Kunlun Glass of course.
Performance & battery
Powering the HUAWEI nova 11 Pro is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. We’ve tested the phone with the regular tasks during the day, from watching videos, to checking emails, spending some time on social media, and the results were very good. We didn’t feel any lag, in multitasking, or jumping from one app to the other. Basic gaming was also a breeze on this device, we didn’t notice any drop in frames no lag.
As with its siblings, the nova 11 Pro connects to 4G only, due to the sanctions imposed on the company. This also applies to the software which runs EMUI 13 OS out of the box, packing Huawei’s own alternative to Google apps through HUAWEI App Gallery.
Alternatively, you can always install GBox, and run the google apps as well.
Battery wise, the Huawei Nova 11 Pro is powered by a 4500 mAh Li-Po battery that can be charged from 0% to 60% in about 10 minutes when screen is off, thanks to the induced 100W charger, and can also give you up to 50% in just under 15 minutes.
Camera
The nova 11 Pro features a 50MP Ultra Vision Camera, 60MP Ultra-Wide Auto Focus Front camera and 8 MP Ultra-Wide Macro Camera. Capturing photos was pretty good, and results all around were satisfying. The photos are highly detailed and vibrant, with accurate colors balance and details. As for low light photography, the results were surprisingly clear as well. You can really expect clear shots in any low light conditions.
The 60MP lens is capable of capturing photos at a 100-degree ultra-wide field of view, with the front lens also capable to shoot 4K video at 30fps, and FHD or 1080p video at 30 and 60 fps. The nova 11 Pro’s camera system comes is also packed with a Vlog Mode that allows users to shoot multiple camera angles at the same time.
