The Galaxy A73 5G is the successor to the A72 and the latest device in Samsung’s A-series of mid-range devices. So how does it fair? is it worth looking at? let’s find out!
The Samsung Galaxy A73 is made from polycarbonate, looks really nice, and feels premium in hand. We got our hands on the mint color variant (also available in grey and white), which has a matte finish back and is pleasingly resistant to fingerprints and smudges (thank you Samsung).
DESIGN & DISPLAY
The phone is wrapped with metallic feeling finish material and houses the volume rockers, and power button. On the bottom sits the standard Type-C charging port along with the speaker grille which supports Dolby Atmos. The sim tray is located at the top and lets you use to 2 nano-SIMs, or 1 SIM and a microSD card up to 1TB. The A73 weighs 181g, 7.6mm thick, and is rated IP67.
The display is a Super AMOLED Plus panel with a refresh rate up to 120Hz. The screen size is 6.7-inch with a resolution of 1080p and supports HDR10. The device uses an in-display fingerprint scanner which works flawlessly. The display features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 as well. Overall, the viewing experience is superb indoors and outdoors, and we had no issues whatsoever in bright conditions. The display peaks at a brightness level of 800 nits.
At the back, resides the quad-camera setup with an LED light in a rectangular module which seemly merges with the frame.
CAMERA
The Galaxy A73 5G has a quad camera set-up at the back featuring a 108MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 5MP macro sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. On the font, the selfie camera is a 32MP shooter. The main camera is a 108Mp sensor with f/1.8 aperture. Photos taken in daylight are very good, and have a good color accuracy, details, and dynamic range. The photos we took looked natural.
In low light, the outcome is good, although sometimes the details aren’t very accurate, but we would say, it does the job majority of the time. The camera is packed with a slow-motion, Food, Panorama, Pro, and portrait modes as well.
The 32MP selfie camera manages to capture really good pictures in natural bright light. The Optical image stabilization creates a stable environment, and the ultra-wide sensor performs as expected asl well.
Overall, camera wise, the Galaxy A73 5G is solid and delivers some great photos for a mid-ranger.
BATTERY, SOFTWARE & PERFORMANCE
The 5000mAh battery can easily last an entire day at 120Hz with heavy usage, so with moderate usage you an easily get more than 1.5 days on a single charge, and around 2 days on lower refresh rate.
Performance wise, the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset, paired up with an Adreno 642L GPU, 8GB RAM, 128/256GB memory combination, and delivers a very stable environment across all activities. We’ve pushed the phone a lot by continuously opening multiple tasks, watching videos, web browsing, light gaming, and the results were impressive with no lags considering the price / category of this phone.
The Galaxy A73 5G runs Samsung’s One UI 4.1 based on Android 12 and has an overall smooth interface. The UI is customizable like any other Samsung phone of course. The interface is very responsive overall, and comes pre-loaded with apps such as Spotify, Microsoft apps, and others.
