realme is known for its smartphones, targeting users who want to get affordable devices with quality, so when the company decided to jump into the tablet world, it was only logical to keep the same strategy, and delivery a tablet that caters to the same pool of buyers.
We’ve tested the realme Pad for a few weeks, and this is what we found out.
What’s in the box?
The realme Pad comes with an 18-Watt power charger, a USB Type-A/ Type-C cable in white, a SIM eject tool and documentation.
Build & Quality
Build wise, the realme Pad is made from aluminium, and feels very solid and premium in the hand. It measures 155.9mm x 246.1mm and is 6.9mm thick and weighs 440g. Overall the pad feels very light in hand as well. At the back, the realme Pad features a single 8MP HD Camera without flash.
There’s a 4 speaker setup, two at the top and two at the bottom between the USB Type-C charging port, the speaker setup is equipped with Smart PA, and supports Adaptive Surround Sound. It also features Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res certifications.
The power button, microphone and SIM tray are placed not he right side of the body. realme has also placed the 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom right corner.
Display
The realme Pad has a 10.4-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of WUXGA+ (2000×1200 pixels). The pixel density is 224 ppi, the refresh rate of the screen is 60 Hz with a screen-to-body ratio of 82.5% and a brightness of 360 nits.
The quality of the display is very good considering the price point of this tablet. The brightness is also very good indoors and outdoors. The colors are vibrant, and saturated by default. Viewing angles are also good.
On top of the standard viewing mode, there’s a night mode that reduces brightness down, a dark mode that reverses the white background to black, and Reading Mode which makes e-reading as close as possible to leafing through a paper book by simulating the texture of a book’s pages.
There’s a 6.1 8MP Ultra Wide-angle Front Camera on the from front that takes clear and bright selfies. It also features a 105° ultra wide-angle letting you capture more of your surroundings when you take a selfie or attend video conferences.
Performance
The 12nm, 8-core MediaTek Helio G80 chipset is more than capable for general everyday use, with apps loading and running smoothly during out testing. Web loading and streaming are also fast and responsive. Gaming wise, the tablet can handle your standard gaming apps with no issues at all.
The realme Pad comes with a configuration of either 64GB / 4GB RAM or 128GB / 6GB RAM with 4G SIM support.
The realme Pad runs on Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 with some tweaks to the settings.
Battery wise, the realme Pad is packed with a 7100mAh large capacity battery for whole day endurance. Realme says the battery will last for 12 hours during video playback, and 65 days in standby mode. During our testing, the numbers we got were very close to what realme promised.
Verdict
The realme Pad is a very good, affordable tablet with 4G support, and is recommended for anyone who is looking for either an educational tablet or something for light use. The realme Pad is available in 2 colors, Real Gold and Real Grey.
