Wireless earbuds are a dime a dozen these days. Every tech company worth its salt has a few pairs on the market, and it can be overwhelming figuring out which are worth your attention. The SoundPeats Air4 Pro might have flown under your radar – they’re the underdogs, the unassuming contenders in a crowded field. But after spending several days living with them, I’m convinced they deserve your consideration, especially if you want premium features without the premium price.
Bluetooth Done Right: Stability and Quality
Let’s talk Bluetooth. The Air4 Pro uses Bluetooth 5.3, plus Snapdragon Sound and aptX Adaptive Lossless, which means a rock-solid wireless connection and CD-quality audio. And you know what? They deliver on that promise. I experienced zero dropouts even in busy environments, a surprising feat for budget earbuds.
Another highlight is the multipoint connectivity. I seamlessly paired these with both my phone and laptop, switching audio sources with ease. It sounds basic, but so many budget earbuds stumble right here. SoundPeats nails it.
Comfort and Design: Snug, Lightweight, and Pocket-Friendly
The Air4 Pro are feather-light. They come in three understated color options: black, white, or beige. Each color is accented with either silver or bronze for a touch of personality. Finding the perfect fit is easy with the three included sizes of silicone ear tips. They’re soft and flexible, creating a comfortable seal that conforms to the shape of your ear canal. This snug fit is essential for good noise isolation and, more importantly, for keeping the earbuds securely in place. Whether you’re headbanging at a concert or lost in a book during your commute, you won’t have to worry about these popping out of your ears.
The charging case itself is a testament to minimalist design. It’s a flat rectangle with a rounded top, pocketable and easy to slip into a bag or purse. The lid opens and closes with a satisfying snap, and a small LED indicator light on the front keeps you informed about battery levels. A USB-C port sits discreetly on the bottom for charging, and the case itself holds multiple charges for the earbuds, making it a perfect travel companion.
The Sound: Surprisingly Good for the Price
Here’s where things get interesting. The Air4 Pro’s 13mm drivers produce a surprisingly robust bass for their size and price. Across genres, from pounding metal to ambient electronica, the low-end impressed me. They also offer three sound modes: Normal, Transparency (aka Passthrough), and ANC. All modes sounded clear and distortion-free.
Transparency mode does introduce a slight hiss, something I noticed in quieter environments. In truth, I rarely use transparency modes. If I need to listen to my surroundings, I’ll usually just pop out one earbud. But it’s nice to have the option.
The star of the show, though, is the Air4 Pro’s Adaptive Noise Cancellation. For less than AED 200, the ANC here is superb. It automatically adjusts to your environment and it really does shut out the world. I put these to the ultimate test: a crowded subway car. Even at 50% volume, my music was a blissful oasis – no engine noise, no chatter. Color me impressed.
The SoundPeats App: Simple but Effective
The companion app (available for iOS and Android) is a pleasant surprise. It’s streamlined, which I appreciate – no unnecessary bloatware here. You get easy access to EQ settings. either via sliders or a preconfigured “SoundPeats Classic” EQ for a balanced sound.
Battery level indicators, noise mode selection (though you can cycle through these with the earbuds themselves), and a toggle for the low-latency gaming mode are all readily available.
Here’s where things get really good: You can turn off the touch controls. Which, trust me, you’ll want to do More on that later…
Battery Life: Good Enough, with a Smart Feature
SoundPeats claims 26 hours of playback with the case. In real-world use, each earbud got me through a workday with normal mode, or a few hours with ANC on. Not the best, but enough for daily commutes and focused sessions.
The in-ear detection feature is a lifesaver, though. It pauses the music instantly when an earbud is removed, conserving battery. I love this – so many competitors lack this quality-of-life extra.
Should You Buy? A Resounding “Yes”, with a Small Caveat
For less than AED 200, the SoundPeats Air4 Pro massively overdeliver. They’re packed with features I usually associate with pricier buds: three sound modes, customizable EQ, low-latency mode, that excellent in-ear detection, and rock-solid connectivity. They’re fantastic everyday earbuds for the user who values reliability and quality audio.
Now, that caveat… Those touch controls. They’re hair-trigger sensitive. The slightest adjustment would trigger them, pausing my music or switching modes. It was maddening until I hopped into the app and disabled them. Problem solved, but it’s a weird design quirk.
Minor frustrations aside, the SoundPeats Air4 Pro are a budget earbud triumph and a reminder that you don’t need to break the bank to get amazing sound and features.
