Even though the Nikon D7500 has been on the market since 2017, but it’s never too late to rate and review the performance of this camera, just so you’re not just any monkey with a DSLR – you’re an informed monkey with a DSLR.
All jokes aside, In the way of how it looks and feels, the camera is much like its predecessor, Nikon’s D7200 but in terms of its functionality and its technology, the camera feels is seriously no better than the D500. Having established that premise, the camera may not sound very appealing, but please hear me out!
Just like how some people are not that great at first impressions, the Nikon D7500 is a lot like that. Therefore the poor guy definitely deserves a chance. So without further ado, let’s just delve into the pros and cons to fully understand the camera’s potential.
PROS
I know, I know, I didn’t get off on a good start when I started this review with a con, but the Nikon D7500 definitely gave me a pleasant surprise.
Now being a product of such a massive company, the Nikon D7500 delivers exactly what it promises and takes absolutely gorgeous photos with its enhanced subject recognition and image buffer. Since the camera is vastly built for speed, it features a 20.9-Megapixel DX format sensor and an 8fps shooting that is great for burst shots and continuous shooting along with great battery life.
On paper, the features may seem inferior to that of the D7200, but this camera is so versatile with a super fast and reliable autofocus with the 51-point module that’s taken from its predecessors. I was very much impressed by the touch screen and how ridiculously responsive it was. The camera is pretty decent when it comes to performing in a low-light setting and is definitely great for night photography.
Given its price range, the camera is definitely a great investment for budding and intermediate photographers who are looking to add that extra oomph to their photography and take it to the next level.
However, before you make that decision, be sure to read the cons, which are not as many as I set you all out to believe.
CONS
One of the biggest cons I personally found was the bulkiness of the camera. Taking a portrait shot was an absolute task and was too much to handle for my frail little arms. Besides that the D7500 does not come with a dual memory card slot, so if you somehow lose data, you lose it for good. There is no backup.
The camera is capable of 4K UHD video recording but comes with a 1.5X crop factor. If you are a seasoned professional, the camera would really fail to meet your expectations and has nothing new to offer compared to other options in the market that may be a lot more superior in the same price range. However, as I said earlier, the camera is definitely a great buy for beginners and intermediate photographers, who can really benefit from its versatility and wide range of dials that would definitely be fun to play around with.
CONCLUSION
After carefully weighing our pros and cons, we here at Absolute Geeks, give the Nikon D7500 a solid 8 out of 10 and a -2 for my poor wingman skills. In conclusion, for it’s price, it’s definitely a great investment.
