evision, a subsidiary of e&, has partnered with Magmedia and JungoTV to launch the All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This dedicated channel will showcase a wide array of women’s sporting events, further promoting and celebrating female athletes in the region.
AWSN will be available on TV by e& and STARZ ON, evision’s free ad-supported streaming platform. This move aims to increase the visibility and accessibility of women’s sports to a broader audience.
The channel, created by Whoopi Goldberg and JungoTV, will feature live matches, highlights, and exclusive shows from various sports including:
- Football (UEFA)
- Basketball (FIBA, WNBL)
- American Football (WFA)
- Tennis
- Cricket
In addition to live events, AWSN will offer original programming such as documentaries, interviews, and analysis, providing in-depth coverage of women’s sports.
This launch builds on evision’s commitment to promoting women’s sports. The company has already made strides by offering free broadcasts of major women’s cricket events like the WPL and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, leading to increased viewership and fan engagement.
Sunil Joy, Head of Content at evision, highlighted the importance of enhancing visibility to drive engagement with women’s sports. By partnering with AWSN, evision aims to expand the reach of women’s sports and inspire new fans in the MENA region.
Magnus Simons, AWSN spokesperson in MENA, noted the growing trend of increased media coverage and viewership for women’s sports. evision’s launch of AWSN is well-positioned to capitalize on this growing demand for women’s sports content.
The launch of AWSN marks a significant step towards greater representation and recognition of women’s sports in the MENA region.
