The highly anticipated multiplayer survival game, “Dune: Awakening,” set in the rich universe of Frank Herbert’s “Dune,” has officially opened pre-orders. Funcom has announced that the game will launch on May 20th, allowing players to soon immerse themselves in the harsh and compelling world of Arrakis.
Three editions of the game are available for pre-order on Steam: the Standard Edition, the Deluxe Edition, and the Ultimate Edition. Each edition offers varying levels of content, with the Ultimate Edition including a 90-minute digital soundtrack. Funcom has also released a behind-the-scenes video showcasing the soundtrack’s creation, featuring composer Knut Avenstroup Haugen and a live orchestra.
Funcom’s Creative Director, Joel Bylos, has clarified the game’s business model and post-launch plans. “Dune: Awakening” will launch as a complete game, not in Early Access, and will not require a subscription. The game will be supported with free updates that introduce new content and features, alongside optional, paid downloadable content (DLCs). This approach reflects Funcom’s history of supporting live games, as seen with titles like “Conan Exiles.”
The Standard Edition of “Dune: Awakening” is priced at $49.99. The Deluxe Edition ($69.99) and the Ultimate Edition ($89.99) both include a 5-day head start and exclusive in-game items. The Deluxe and Ultimate editions include a season pass that will provide access to 4 DLCs over time with the first available at launch. The deluxe edition includes the Sardaukar armor. The Ultimate edition includes the Paul Atreides stillsuit, a digital artbook, the digital soundtrack, unique color patterns, and the Caladan Palace Set. Pre-ordering any edition grants players a universal color pattern and the Terrarium of Muad’Dib in-base decoration.
“Dune: Awakening” will utilize advanced PC features, including NVIDIA’s DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, AMD’s FSR, and Intel’s XeSS 2, to deliver high-quality visuals and performance. The game also supports Razer Chroma RGB and Razer Sensa HD Haptics for enhanced immersion.
