Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service is undergoing some significant changes, including a revamp of its membership tiers and the introduction of monthly playtime caps.
The Priority membership tier has been renamed “Performance” and now offers an enhanced gaming experience. Subscribers can stream games at up to 1440p resolution and in ultrawide formats, with settings conveniently saved across sessions. This brings the Performance tier closer to the premium Ultimate tier, which boasts 4K streaming and high refresh rates powered by GeForce RTX 4080 servers.
However, starting in 2025, both Performance and Ultimate members will face a 100-hour monthly playtime cap. Nvidia assures users that this limit will only affect a small portion of its player base, as over 94% of users currently play within this timeframe. To provide some flexibility, users will be able to roll over up to 15 unused hours to the following month. For those who need more playtime, Nvidia will offer the option to purchase additional 15-hour blocks at $2.99 for Performance members and $5.99 for Ultimate members.
As a thank you to loyal subscribers, Nvidia is offering unlimited playtime through 2025 to those who maintain an active subscription by December 31, 2024. This gives existing members a full year of uninterrupted access before the new playtime caps come into effect.
In addition to these changes, Nvidia is also offering a limited-time 25% discount on Day Passes, allowing gamers to experience the new Performance and Ultimate tiers for 24 hours. Performance Day Passes are now available for $2.99, while Ultimate Day Passes cost $5.99. As an added bonus, if users decide to upgrade to a monthly subscription within 48 hours of their Day Pass expiring, they can apply the cost of the pass towards their membership.
With a vast library of over 2,000 games and new titles added weekly, GeForce Now remains one of the most comprehensive cloud gaming services available. These latest updates demonstrate Nvidia’s ongoing efforts to deliver a high-quality cloud gaming experience while effectively managing its infrastructure to meet the growing demands of its user base.
