The ChatGPT macOS app has received a significant update with new features designed to enhance productivity and streamline workflows. These include Advanced Voice Mode and “Working with Apps” functionality.
Advanced Voice Mode allows users to interact with ChatGPT using voice commands, eliminating the need for typing. This enables hands-free operation and allows users to multitask while engaging with the AI assistant.
The “Working with Apps” feature enables ChatGPT to interact directly with other applications on the Mac, particularly coding and notetaking apps. For example, ChatGPT can analyze code in a code editor like Warp and offer suggestions, explanations, or even write new code snippets. It can also generate text in both English and programming languages directly into notetaking apps like Apple Notes, Quip, and Notion.
These new features showcase OpenAI’s vision for ChatGPT as an “agentic” AI, capable of performing tasks on behalf of the user and seamlessly integrating with various applications.
While these updates are currently exclusive to the macOS app, OpenAI has announced that an update for the Windows app is coming soon.
