Roblox is introducing new safety policies aimed at enhancing the protection of its young users. These policies will restrict access to certain content and social features for users under the age of 13.
Starting December 3rd, Roblox users under 13 will no longer be able to access, search for, or discover any experiences that have not been age-rated by the platform. This means creators will be required to ensure their experience details pages (including thumbnails, titles, and descriptions) meet Roblox’s criteria for all ages or ages 9 and up.
Another significant change restricts access to Roblox’s Social Hangouts and Free-form User Creation experiences to users over 13. This policy will take effect on November 18th.
These new policies come in response to concerns about the safety of young users on the platform. Roblox has faced scrutiny in the past regarding incidents involving child exploitation and abuse. The company aims to address these concerns and create a safer environment for its younger audience.
By implementing age-restricted content and social features, Roblox is taking steps to better protect children under 13. These changes will help ensure that young users are not exposed to inappropriate content or interactions while enjoying the platform.
