Sony is raising the bar for budget wireless earbuds with the launch of the WF-C510, the successor to its highly acclaimed WF-C500. These new earbuds not only refine the design with a smaller, lighter build and improved controls but also pack in a surprising feature rarely seen in this price range: Ambient Sound Mode.
While active noise cancellation (ANC) remains reserved for higher-end models like the WF-C700, the WF-C510’s Ambient Sound Mode allows users to temporarily let in external sounds, proving useful for hearing announcements or conversations without removing the earbuds.
Other notable improvements include extended battery life (up to 22 hours total), upgraded Bluetooth 5.3 support, Spotify Tap functionality, and Sony’s signature DSEE audio processing for enhanced sound quality.
The WF-C510 retain the popular IPX4 water resistance rating, 360 Reality Audio support, Multipoint Bluetooth connection, and come in a range of attractive colors.
Priced at a competitive $60, the WF-C510 are set to hit the market in September. If they deliver on the sound front, they could be another winning addition to Sony’s impressive headphone lineup.
Stay tuned for our full review to see if these earbuds live up to their promising specs.
