Google has expanded access to its AI video creation tool, Vids, making it available to a wider range of business users. Initially launched for Google Workspace users earlier this year, Vids leverages the power of Google’s Gemini AI model to simplify the process of creating marketing videos and other business-related content.
Vids offers a user-friendly interface with features designed to streamline video production. The “Help me create” option allows users to generate a storyboard based on initial prompts and Google Drive documents. After selecting a preferred style, Gemini AI suggests scenes, provides access to stock media, generates text and scripts, and even recommends background music. The AI then assembles a draft video that users can further customize by adding stock footage, animations, transitions, and photo effects.
The platform also provides a variety of templates that can serve as a foundation for video projects. Users can further personalize their videos with voiceovers, choosing from a selection of preset voices or recording their own using a built-in teleprompter feature powered by Gemini’s read-along and rolling capabilities.
Google emphasizes that Vids is designed for collaboration and ease of use, similar to other productivity tools like Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Users can collaborate in real-time and securely share projects directly from their browser.
As of November 7th, Vids is being rolled out to select editions of Google Workspace, including Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise tiers, and Education Plus, as well as for Gemini add-on customers. Google plans to make the feature available to more users in the coming weeks.
Google will provide full access to Vids’ AI-powered features for free until December 31, 2025. Starting in 2026, usage limits on AI features will be implemented, and users will be notified in advance of the changes.
