Motorola has officially introduced the Motorola Edge 50, a new addition to its Edge series. Notably, the phone claims the title of “world’s slimmest MIL-STD-810H military grade certified” smartphone, an impressive feat given the durability rating typically associated with more rugged devices.
The Edge 50 comes in three vegan-friendly colors: Jungle Green, Pantone Peach Fuzz with a vegan leather finish, and Koala Grey with a vegan suede back. While exact dimensions are not yet available, product photos show a remarkably slim profile. The phone also boasts an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
On the front, a 6.67-inch pOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and 1,900 nits peak brightness takes center stage. It’s expected to have a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. The rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 30x zoom (likely 3x optical), and a 13MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view.A 32MP selfie camera completes the package.
Under the hood, the Edge 50 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, the same one found in last year’s Motorola Razr 2023. It comes with 256GB of storage and a 5,000 mAh battery, supported by 68W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
The phone runs Android 14 out of the box and promises three years of OS upgrades and four years of security patches.
The Motorola Edge 50 is slated to launch in India on August 1st. No word yet on regional or global release.
